If ChatGPT is experiencing an outage, here are some steps you can take:

  1. Check ChatGPT's official status page or social media accounts for announcements.
  2. Try accessing ChatGPT from a different device or network to rule out local issues.
  3. Restart your router and clear your browser cache.
  4. Wait a few minutes and try again — most outages are resolved quickly.

Our status checker makes a real-time HTTP request to ChatGPT's servers to verify connectivity. If the server responds with a success code, we report it as UP. A timeout or error code means it's DOWN. Note that regional outages may not be detected if ChatGPT's main servers are reachable but regional CDN nodes are not.
